The Embassy of India in Mali celebrated the Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation (ITEC) Day in a grand manner in Bamako on 20 September 2025 at the Embassy Residence , Faso Kanu. The celebration featured keynote address, reminiscence by ITEC alumni, cultural performances, exhibition by ITEC entrepreneurs and presentations.
2. In his keynote address, Ambassador-designate Dr. N. Nandakumar highlighted that India’s development assistance to partner countries is guided by the ancient Indian philosophy of “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam” (meaning “The world is one family”) and was aligned with the development priorities of partner nations. He noted that over the past eight years, more than 300 Malian professionals from public, private, and defence sectors had benefitted from various ITEC training programmes, contributing significantly to Mali’s efforts in capacity building and skill development.

Several distinguished ITEC alumni, including Mr. Balla Oumar Cisse, Deputy Director, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation; Mr. Alou Konate, Senior Superintendent of Police and Head of Clinical Psychology Unit, Armed Forces Health Service Headquarters; and Mrs. Rose Bouzaid, Expert, National Human Rights Commission of Mali, shared their enriching experiences of attending ITEC courses in India. They expressed gratitude to the Government of India for its continued support for human resource development and institutional capacity building in Mali.
4. A key highlight of the celebration was a special exhibition curated by Malian entrepreneurs who had benefitted from ITEC programmes, showcasing their innovations and success stories. The event also featured vibrant cultural performances and a culinary spread of Indian and Malian cuisine, reflecting the cultural synergy between the two nations. The celebration was made even more special as ITEC alumni played an active role in conceptualizing and organizing the event, making it truly an ITEC day by the alumni and for the alumni.
