About Us Cultural Exchanges

Both countries have a rich cultural heritage. A two-member cultural delegation visited India during the 3rd India-Africa Forum Summit (IAFS-III) in October 2015 for a musical performance and received great appreciation. A ten-member Malian traditional music group ‘Ensemble Instrumental National of Mali’ visited India between 18-19 June 2012 to take part and perform at the Africa Day Festival organized by the Indian Council for Cultural Relations.

A Cultural Exchange Programme (CEP) between India and Mail has been signed in September 2016. In March 2017, India donated US$ 0.5 million for the reconstruction of the world heritage of Timbuktu which was announced by Hon’ble Vice President of India during his visit to Mali in September 2016.

An Exhibition hosting Timbuktu manuscripts “Taj Mahal meets Timbuktu” was held at National Museum, New Delhi from 14 May – 6 June 2018
