The 125 th Birth Anniversary of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar was celebrated on 14 April2016 at the Chancery premises. The event was attended by about 80 persons.Hon’ble Maitre Zoumana N’tji Doumbia, President of the Constitutional LawCommission of the Republic of Mali, was the Chief Guest. Some Members (MPs) ofthe Mali-India Parliamentary Friendship Group were also present.
In his welcome address, Ambassador noted that Dr. Ambedkar, was one ofthe prime architects of the Indian Constitution who had dedicated his entire life forthe upliftment of the downtrodden and oppressed.
A background banner commemorating the event was prominently displayedover a large, framed photograph of Dr. Ambedkar. A small exhibition on the life andachievements of Dr. Ambedkar was displayed with some of his rarely seenphotographs. A brief note depicting the personality traits and lifetime of Dr.
Ambedkar was also posted.
Full text of the original and amended Preamble of the Indian Constitution wasalso displayed, in bilingual format.
Books on the life and achievements of Dr. Ambedkar were also on display forthe benefit of those interested in borrowing them.
The 72-minute documentary “Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar” by Shri Jabbar Patelwas also shown to the invitees who appreciated it immensely.
The event also heralded the commencement of the Special Swachh BharatPakhwada (14-27 April) at the Embassy.
A professional video/still photographer was arranged to provide necessaryinputs for the webpage and e-Book of the Ministry as per specifications provided.
A brief quiz on the life and times of Dr. Ambedkar was also conducted andelicited enthusiastic participation from the audience.
Some members of the local media also attended the event.
The even concluded with a modest dinner for the attendees.
